Equine Facilities
We have a dedicated equine unit with stabling for day patients and in-patients. The examination room is equipped for JMB measurements, performing of diagnostic examinations and medical treatments. Horses having surgery are treated in rooms with thick padded flooring in the preparation room and anaesthetised animals are ‘dropped’ in the knock down box which has padded walls and floor to minimise injury.
Behind the equine building is an extensive box park where the largest
of vehicles can be accomodated.
We have an extensive array of equipment
available to help diagnose and treat problems, including x-ray machine,
ultrasound scanners for diagnostic imaging in lameness cases and for
reproductive examinations. A flexible endoscope is used to view the horses
larynx, throat, guttural pouches and trachea for any problems of haemorrhage
or abnormal noises. We have an extensive range of dental equipment including
motorised burrs, headrest and manual equipment.
The measuring pad is approved
by JMB (Joint Measuring Board) for performing annual and life measurements.
We
perform all areas of ambulatory equine practice including pre-purchase
examinations. We are happy to liaise with owner’s farriers, physiotherapists,
dental technicians and other paraprofessionals to give a rounded approach
to horse and pony care
