Sarah Owens Biography - MRCVS

Kelly Sarah relaxing with some of the Massai during a stint of wildlife work in Kenya

I come from a small island off the city of Seattle in the northwestern US, where my entire family were active in Young Riders, Pony Club, and organization of numerous 3-day events. I have competed at Advanced level 3-day and amateur polo, and as a child showed my pet cat and golden retriever.

I have bachelors’ degrees in biology and film production from Brown University and a doctorate in veterinary medicine from Tufts University in the USA. I am particularly interested in treatment of the sport horse and lameness problems

Since graduating I have worked in numerous countries; at home in the United States I worked with the US 3 day event team at four star competitions. In the Himalayas I worked with the Tibetan medical practitioners and in Argentina with the traditional Gaucho cowboys. Recently I was the supervising veterinary surgeon on the set of the Warner Brothers film 'Racing Stripes' which was based in South Africa.

I first worked in the UK as an associate practitioner for Eqwest in Tavistock in 2003. In 2004 I worked for PJ MAcmahon in Sussex and Berkshire treating some of the top polo ponies and three-day eventers.
