As part of my BSc Veterinary Nursing degree at the London Royal Veterinary College, I completed an enjoyable year of work placement at Gabriel, Grills and Associates. Post graduation, as a qualified BSc Veterinary Nurse in 2011, I was very happy to be offered a full time position.
I love all aspects of working in a busy veterinary practice, especially the day to day multitude of cases. You can never predict how each day will go and the variety of cases that the Veterinary Staff come into contact with is infinite! I really enjoy assisting all the vets with surgical procedures and I find the orthopaedic procedures particularly interesting! I also have a keen interest in all the exotic cases and especially coming into contact with all the Gables dogs and cats!
In my spare time, when I'm not at the vets cuddling puppies and kittens, I enjoy anything that involves being outside or on water, I enjoy rowing on the river Dart, playing hockey, spending time with friends, family and my animals. I have a number of animals…Jensen the speedy Spur-thighed tortoise, Bradley the cat who behaves like a dog and my newest addition… Jasper, my lively Dalmatian X Border collie puppy, which I re-homed from Gables in June 2012.
I enjoy helping to run nurse clinics, which provide a way for Veterinary Nurses to provide essential advice to clients regarding general husbandry of their pet and post-operative care, enabling them to make a complete recovery back to full health. Sophie Baser and I are running puppy parties for any puppy, after they have been fully vaccinated. The aim of the puppy parties are to enable the puppies to socialise, learn basic training commands and provide advice to clients on the health of their puppy, by ensuring worming and flea treatment are up to date and that the weight of the puppy is correct for their breed and age. We also provide neutering and nutritional advice for your puppy and we will be more than happy to continue to help out with any future queries throughout the life of your puppy. Puppies will leave with a party bag and a certificate of completion and any visits to the vets in future will be a pleasant experience for them!
